Juane to dance? Civil servant gyrates for spot on Ellen show

OTTAWA – A federal bureaucrat is trying to dance his way from the Rideau Canal to the Ellen Degeneres show.

A marketing officer at Service Canada by day, Jon Juane is showing the world is passion for dance.

Sporting a neon blue, green and pink sweater, Juane started by shaking his thing wearing skates on Ottawa’s famous Rideau Canal, making oblivious tourists snapping photos his secret dance partners.

In his second act, things get sensual in a truly Canadian tribute to songstress Celine Dion. Juane pirouettes to “The Power of Love” on Parliament Hill as a group of girls huddle around Centennial Flame, completely unaware of the tribute happening behind them.

Juane then takes his performance to the halls of power, joining a tour of the Parliament Buildings where he grinds his way through a visit of their famous library. Here he gets at least one strange look from a confused bystander, but it doesn’t stop Juane.

Before he leaves, Juane gets cheeky with some security guards, gyrating behind them while they dutifully scan Parliament’s front doors for any sign of danger.

The moves, already viewed by more than 5,000, are in response to a dare issued by popular television host Ellen Degeneres, who herself is known to bust a move.

Degeneres dared viewers to slyly cut a rug while people around them went about their daily business. It was inspired by one of her employees who filmed his own antics around the office while his unsuspecting coworkers hammered their keyboards or applied makeup. He even snuck on set while Degeneres was on air.

The only rules Degeneres laid out: “Don’t get arrested. Don’t do anything rude.”

At stake are a $100 Target gift card and a trip to Los Angeles to appear on the show.

Juane is ready for the win, tagging his video with this dare: “Oh and Ellen, I challenge you to a dance-off in L.A.”
