C.W. Jefferys Collegiate was placed into lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a stabbing on school property.

A male teenager believed to be 16-years-old was stabbed in the stomach on school grounds, he then left the school and went to his home on Sheppard Avenue West near Jane street just before 1:00pm.

It's believed the victim is a student at the school.

Toronto Police Const. Tony Vela said a 16-year-old boy who was weak and "bleeding profusely from the stomach" somehow managed to take a cab home.

"His parents called the school and it was put under lockdown. Police officers are on scene and are investigating," said Vela, who noted the boy, who was transferred to hospital in serious condition, was not being co-operative with police.

Police don't have a suspect description yet, they also haven't located a weapon.

On May 23, 2007 Jordan Manners was shot and killed inside C.W. Jefferys prompting calls for tighter security in Toronto's schools.

The death of the Grade 9 student brought into question the safety of Toronto high schools. His death also resulted in the creation of the School Community Special Advisory Panel, which released a report last year that said there was a culture of fear and violence in many Toronto schools.

A pilot program done in the conjunction with the Toronto police also put 19 officers in schools across the city.
